Fault Finding on Natural Gas Detection Service Visit
Diamond Controls’ service and maintenance engineers were able to put their many years of experience to great use when attending a commercial building’s plant room to test their gas detection system.
The maintenance visit was part of a wider service contract that includes water leak detection products and gas escape monitoring equipment across several zones in the building.
Testing and Inspection
A thorough review of the plant room’s incumbent gas detection system identified a serious fault with its operating ability, our engineers discovering that previously replaced sensors had been wired incorrectly to the detection panel by another provider.
Service and Maintenance Manager, Lavinia Dean said, “Our engineers identified that the original gas detecting equipment in the large plant room was incorrectly installed by another provider and their subsequent inspection put forward an incorrect cause of the fault. Our experience enabled us to find the correct cause of the error, rectify it with minimal outlay and time, and avoid a costly system replacement.”
“A potentially dangerous situation has been rectified and the system fully checked after our fault finding to ensure that if a gas leak were to occur, the leak detection equipment is able function correctly, raising an immediate alarm of a leak to the building management team.”
Diamond Controls offers comprehensive service contracts for all forms of leak detecting equipment including gas, oil, water and other liquids. Annual servicing is strongly recommended to ensure systems are fully operational. For larger systems or wireless leak detection equipment, more frequent visits are advised. It is also often a requirement of commercial building insurance providers to have thorough, regular testing of the operational ability of these products.
Lavinia concludes, “We provide service and maintenance support, including remedial works for all manufacturers systems, not just leak monitoring solutions that we have installed. As industry experts, we also offer a commissioning service, as a final failsafe check to property managers who may outsource the installation of their leak detection system to a non-specialist third party. This, along with our comprehensive reporting systems, operations and maintenance manuals, and technical support, means we are perfectly placed to offer a complete turnkey solution.”
